As I sit and write this I am looking out on yet another snowstorm! We certainly have had our fill this winter! Even though I have had enough for awhile, it never ceases to be beautiful. Snow reminds me of Jesus and what He has done for us. When it snows, all the ugly, dead grass, mud and plants are covered with a beautiful blanket of white; just like what Jesus does for us when we accept Him as our Savior. Everything is so peaceful and quiet and it makes me think of the Bible verse "Be still and know that I am God". It forces us to slow down.
Children's Church celebrated love in February with a party on the 14th. We had fun playing games and eating treats. Also, the children have been bringing home bookmarks with Bible verses to read everyday. Please help your child remember this as we are trying to get them in the habit of reading their Bible everyday. If they bring it back on Sunday and have read each night they get a prize out of our prize box. (If you have anything you would like to donate for our prizes, please let us know!) We are also memorizing verses each week. We are following the ABC's. Each week the verse starts with the next letter of the alphabet. We are on "D" this week. These are short but great verses to know.
I am reading the book "The Shack" and am so engrossed I can't put it down! The main character doesn't understand why God does some of the things He does or why He allows bad things to happen. The character is asked to decide which two of his four children he would send to Hell and of course, he says he cannot send any because of how much he loves them; even when they make him mad, disappoint him or hurt him. He states that he doesn't love any of them more than the other, but each in a different way because they are each unique. He realizes that this is the way God feels about us and that He doesn't want any of us to go to Hell. He loves each of us the same, no matter what we've done or if we love Him or not. Sometimes we think God doesn't care, but if you have children, you know how much He cares for us because we are all His children. This book makes you think of God "outside the box" and gives a very interesting perspective into God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. I recommend you read it if you get the chance.
Thank you for allowing us to teach your children each Sunday! We think each of your children are very special too! If you've been absent for a while, we miss you and hurry back!Â
In Service to Him,
Susan Marks
